Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance to wojenny RTS osadzony w postapokaliptycznej przyszłości. Gracz dowodzi siłami ruchu oporu walczącymi z mechanicznymi armiami bezwzględnej sztucznej inteligencji Legion.

Pod względem fabularnym gra stanowi prequel filmu Terminator: Mroczne przeznaczenie. Akcja toczy się w postapokaliptycznej przyszłości, gdzie niedobitki ludzkości podejmują walkę z mechanicznymi armiami morderczej sztucznej inteligencji znanej jako Legion.

Gra opowiada o początkach ruchu oporu. Gracz musi poprowadzić grupę ocalonych ludzi, zapewnić im przetrwanie, werbować nowych członków i ostatecznie utworzyć z nich armię zdolną stawić czoło Legionowi.
